Obituary of Alysa Jade Kristjanson

Alysa Jade Kristjanson (Hebrew name Ariella) was 22 years and 10 months young and a resident of Princeton, New Jersey. She died when struck by a hit-and-run vehicle on June 4th, 2020 in North Brunswick, New Jersey.  Alysa was born at St. Peter’s Hospital in New Brunswick, New Jersey on July 25th, 1997. 

Alysa was an aspiring singer. She wrote her own lyrics and poetry and performed her music throughout the area.  She worked at various family owned and local businesses to support her passion.  Alysa was extremely compassionate about rescuing and caring for animals and earned her Pet Grooming Certificate.  Prior to this vocation, she was a Certified Lifeguard and Caregiver for families in Princeton.  Alysa attend Princeton High School, the Solebury School, and graduated from La Europa Academy, Murray, Utah.   Alysa studied and celebrated her Bat Mitzvah and Confirmation at Congregation Beth Chaim in Princeton Junction, New Jersey. From a young age, she was an accomplished athlete and student and as an adult, passionate about healthy nutrition.   During her life’s journey, Alysa worked hard to manage and overcome her struggles with a combination of borderline personality, bipolar disorders, and addiction.   

Alysa is predeceased by Charles Robert Slatnick (maternal grandfather), Tree Bird (cat) and Stoli (dog).  Survived by Father David Kristjanson of Belle Mead, NJ; Mother Robyn Slatnick and Stepfather, Mark Wilson of Princeton; her brother Jack Kristjanson, 12, and sister Riley Kristjanson, 9; Grandmother Linda Z. Slatnick, Grandparents Phyllis and Curt Kristjanson of North Brunswick and Step Grandmother Mickey Slatnick.  Alysa also had 5 stepsiblings, 1 niece, great aunts and uncles, aunts & uncles, numerous cousins, extended family, friends, and her cat Jane.  Alysa was blessed with abundant  family and friend support as she reciprocated her love to so many. 

Please contact the family for service and shiva information. Burial will be in Princeton Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Star of David Memorial Chapel of Princeton located at 40 Vandeventer Ave. Princeton, NJ.
