Obituary of Stephen Richard Wincott
Please share a memory of Stephen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Stephen Richard Wincott, 81, of East Windsor, NJ died Wednesday, March 18, 2020. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on the Fourth of July in 1938, the youngest of three children, to Henry and Betty (Dorfman) Wincott. In 1958, Steve married his high school sweetheart, Stephanie (Sinderbrand), and together they had three children, Sandy, Robert, and Debra. The family moved from Brooklyn to New Jersey in 1971, where Steve lived the rest of his life.
Steve both served in the army and graduated from Pace University before embarking on a 45-year career in commercial finance, working as an executive vice president in the banking industry. His career was very important to him and he excelled at his job, where he also made many close friends.
Steve had many hobbies. He was a member of the Society of American Magicians, a member of the Central Jersey Antique Car Club, and an avid craps player at the Borgata in Atlantic City. He also had many different collections – including clocks, trains, and music boxes. His dogs were another important part of his life and he lived his entire life with at least one dog at home. In recent years, he was a daily visitor of the Mercer County Dog Park with his dog, Bonnie.
Steve is survived by Stephanie, who he was with for 65 years, as well as his children, Sandy (and her husband, Michael), Robert (and his wife, Kim), and Debra. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Laura, Jennifer, Cameron, and Sara, and by his brother, Gerald (and his wife, Rita).
Steve had many nieces and nephews, including Susan (predeceased), Linda, David (and his wife, Susan), Rebecca (and her husband, Erez), and Joy (and her husband, Steve). Their children include Paul (and his wife, Katie, and children, Gabrielle, Matthew, and Daniel), Lynda (and her children, Elaine and Brian), William (his wife, Carrice, and daughter, Charlotte), Jordan, Helene, Shai, and Bohdan. Steve is predeceased by his parents, Henry and Betty, and his sister, Elaine.
A graveside service will be held 11:30 am on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Floral Park Cemetery, Monmouth Junction. An additional memorial service to honor Steve’s life will also be planned for July.
